Pine Hills Trail
Latest update: Dec. 2017
The Pine Hills Trail is both a neighborhood trail, and when completed an important "connector" trail to state and regional trail networks. The first phase completed in 2017 runs about 2.5 miles in Pine Hills (west Orlando) from Alhambra Drive to Silver Star Road, including a trail spur to Barnett Park. Future construction of Phases 2 and 3 to the north will link to the Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail. To the south, the trail will connect to the Shingle Creek Regional Trail. The trail provides a pedestrian- and bike-friendly transportation option to the Pine Hills community, with the long-term plan to link to other trails an added plus. (Detailed map and photos below.)
Location: Orange County (Pine Hills, Orlando, FL)
End Points: Alhambra Drive to Silver Star Road
(Phase 1)

Page Summary:
This is a popular addition to the Pine Hills community, linking Barnett Park - one of Orlando's largest parks - to local neighborhoods. When connected to the Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail and Shingle Creek Regional Trail, the area could enjoy some economic benefits as well.
This section of the Pine Hills Trail runs along a utility corridor through residential neighborhoods from Alhambra Drive (north of SR 50 and west of Pine Hills Road) to Silver Star Road. Nicely done trail with good signage. Road crossings are along mostly residential roads and well marked, but do take care in crossing. There currently are no amenities along the trail, facilities are located at Barnett Park. Located along a utility corridor, there is no shade so bring sunscreen and water.
A 3/4 mile trail spur connects to Barnett Park (trailhead parking) to the Pine Hills Trail.
The 159-acre park is a great facility with parking, restrooms, picnicking and pavilions, playground, splash pad, playing fields, recreational center, Disc Golf course, BMX track, fishing pier, boat ramp, dog park, and more.
