St. Cloud Biking
Latest update: March 2025
The City of St. Cloud is expanding its trails system to accommodate multiple users and create a connected network, enhancing the community’s recreational opportunities, and adding to the safety of trail users.
We visited three connecting biking trails along East KLake Tohopekaliga: 1) the recreational trail at St. Cloud Lakefront Park (a scenic 2-mile trail along East Lake Tohopekaliga with access to park facilities), 2) Fortune-Lakeside Multi-Use Trail (7 miles from Lakefront Park, along East Lakeshore Blvd. and Fortune Rd. to US 192), and 3) Kissimmee-St. Cloud Connector (1.5 miles, from E. Lakeshore Blvd. in St. Cloud, along the C-31 Canal, to the Neptune Rd. Recreational Pathway in Kissimmee).
Location: Osceola County (St. Cloud)
Mileage: 10 miles and growing
Surface: Asphalt
Parking/Trailheads: At Lakefront Park, Partin Triangle Park
Nearby Points of Interest: Narcoossee Sugar Mill
Ruins, Ralph V. Chisholm Regional Park, Lake Kissimmee State Park
Bike Shops / Rentals: Smittyz Cyclez (sales, service)
St. Cloud Lakefront Park features a two-mile recreational trail along the south shore of East Lake Tohopekaliga. The 12-foot wide trail is an easy ride with access to park amenities including a marina, fishing piers, swimming beach, restaurant, picnic tables, and playground. The trail links to the growing network of trails giving users access to downtown and other areas of the city.
From the West Loop Pavilion parking area and going west, the Lakefront Park Trail narrows and runs 1/10 mile to Columbia St. where the Fortune-Lakeshore Multi-Use Trail begins. The 10-foot trail runs roadside with a grass buffer. This is not a destination recreational trail, but a good local connector.
The trail starts on the east side of E. Lakeshore Blvd. through a residential area along the lake - there are no crossroads on this side, but driveways so be careful. At Brown Chapel Road link to the Kissimmee-St. Cloud Connector. The trail then crosses a bridge over the St. Cloud (C-31) Canal (6/10 mile).
Past the bridge, the trail runs lakeside along a wetland with no homes or driveways for about 6/10 mile. We ended our ride here, where residences resume lakeside.
In another 1/4 mile, the trail crosses to the west side of E. Lakeshore Blvd., then crosses Parton Settlement Rd. (2/10 mile). From here is about 2 miles to Fortune Rd. The trail runs alongside Fortune Rd. for about 3 miles, passing residential areas, businesses, schools and athletic fields. This section is busy with crossroads and driveways, be careful. It passes over the Florida Turnpike, and ends at US 192.
The Connector in St. Cloud starts from the Fortune-Lakeshore Multi-Use Trail at Brown Chapel Rd. It runs along Brown Chapel Rd. for about 1/10 mile, then crosses the road and runs another 2/10 mile to the C-31 Canal. It then parallels the canal into Kissimmee, passing under US 192, and ending at Neptune Rd. in Kissimmee where it links to the Neptune Rd. Recreational Pathway.
Parkiing is available at Partin Triangle Park along Neptune Road (over the bridge at the canal, then cross Neptune Road to the park entrance). Road construction was underway on our visit, and the entry rough. We'll check back in the future.
